PAST PROJECTS
Footpath development
Dates: December 2000 to March 2001
Lead organisation: Committee
Funding: £5000 ACE
Our first footpath venture was to improve the access to a short cut. This was part of the feasibility study, and was completed before the feasibility study was published! The path had been in use for years, as an informal short route to the main road. With the development of the main road to provide a double track past Iochdar, the footpath was disrupted, and pedestrians and cyclists were diverted onto the double tracked road before being able to access the old single track road, which was retained as a footpath. We re-instated the old short cut, and arranged to have a tarmac surface put on it. The work was funded with the help of the community council, using an ACE grant from Comhairle nan Eileanan Siar.
