WELCOME

Welcome to the Sgoil an Iochdair agus a'Choimhearsnachd (Eochar School and Community) website.

We are a small local charity, the main aim of which is to improve recreational facilities in the catchment area of Iochdar School, which extends from Peninerine in South Uist up to Island Flodda, Benbecula.

Following the completion of a community survey to find out what people would like to see happening, we have identified a list of projects that would be popular locally. We have already been successful in completing some of these projects, or supporting other groups so that they can undertake the work. We also have lots of ideas for the future.

Our biggest project to date has been to improve the grounds around the school. The project is now just about complete; we are just waiting for some fencing, improvements to drainage, and for the grass to grow. Please look here for news and photographs.

Please contact us if you have anything you wish to pass on; all of our projects have been proposed by local people, and their success depends on everyone's feedback and input.

We are about to start consulting on the possibility of improving the pitch at Iochdar Hall. If you have an interest in the pitch, please get in touch before May 2008.
