22 DECEMBER 1994 - 07 SEPTEMBER 2014
Carl MacPhee was born and brought up in South Uist, attended Iochdar School and Lionacleit School, and played football for Iochdar Saints. Known by all as Doodoos, Carl was a star player for the Saints. He was also a star player in many other ways. Life was never dull when Doods was there, witty and engaging, hard-working and kind. Many people will miss him in the months and years ahead.
Carl's funeral will be on Saturday 13th at 1pm at St Michael's Church, Ardkenneth, South Uist, and afterwards conveyed to Nunton Cemetery. There will be a funeral tea in Congreve House, Balivanich.
As the graveside wreaths and flowers will be family only, there will be an opportunity to donate money at Congreve House, for Iochdar Playing Fields Association for the development of a football pitch for Iochdar Saints. Donations can also be given through Just Texting: please see the banner below. A JustGiving link will be posted soon.
The trustees and members of Sgoil an Iochdair all know Carl and his family; we are all grieving. We are also very grateful to Carl's family for suggesting that donations should go towards the Iochdar Pitch. Many thanks to you all, what a kind, generous and positive thought.
Sgoil an Iochdair agus a'Choimhearsnachd is a local charity, the main aim of which is to improve recreational facilities in the catchment area of Iochdar School, which extends from the middle district in South Uist up to Island Flodda, Benbecula.
Our next big project is the reinstatement of the pitch beside Iochdar Hall. We have sorted out the lease, applied for funds, and have just received the plans, which you can review (here:...)
